My Homemade Natural Toothpaste Secrets

Lately my friends have been saying that my teeth look whiter and healthier than ever. Many think that I came into a little money and went for teeth cleaning and whitening procedures. Since I do not have the time to explain to each of them that I did neither of the above, I thought I would share my secrets with the whole world. Believe it or not, my teeth are this white because I made a life changing decision to stay away from store bought toothpaste. Yes, that toothpaste in your bathroom right now could be the reason why your teeth do not look so good. I decided to make my own toothpaste and it is not that hard to do. I only tried it once and the results were perfect so I decided to stick with it.

The first thing I did was research about all the ingredients in the store bought toothpaste I used to buy. What I found was shocking. A few of the ingredients in my toothpaste included fluoride and glycerin. My research revealed that these not left a coating on the teeth, but that they also did nothing to protect my teeth from bacteria and infections. I did a lot of research until I finally came up with a recipe that would see my teeth healthier and white. Below are the things that I place in my homemade toothpaste.

Coconut oil: This has antibacterial properties that always leave my mouth clean and healthy. The oil can be bought from various stores all over the country. Though it is more likely for you to find it a health or natural store.

Bentonite clay: This is a polishing cleanser that also has antibacterial properties. The clay has been used for many years for the promotion of digestive health. It is, however, also effective in the promotion of dental health. It is, therefore, safe even for little children that might be tempted to swallow the toothpaste.

Rea sea salt: This also has a few antibacterial properties and is good for gently scrubbing teeth. It is easier to find than you think, so do not think that this is a deal breaker. The salt can be found at most health stores.

Peppermint essential oil: This is meant to add a little minty flavor or freshness to the toothpaste. Most of us love the store bought toothpaste because of this flavor. Therefore, adding this ingredient will make your toothpaste more normal tasting, which will make it easier for you to use. However, if you are not a fun of peppermint essential oil and feel you would still be able to use the toothpaste, you can go ahead and skip this ingredient.

The last ingredient that you will need is a little filtered water. This will make the mixture a little more even. Remember to keep adding ingredients until you get the texture that you are comfortable with. Do not make a texture that will make it hard for you to get the toothpaste onto your toothbrush.
